The Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), in conjunction with the esteemed CME Group (Chicago Mercantile Exchange), awarded the second annual CME Group/MSRI Prize in Innovative Quantitative Applications to David M. Kreps, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty Director of the MBA Program, and Theodore J. Kreps Professor of Economics, Stanford Graduate School of Business, on Thursday, September 20 at the CME Group World Headquarters, in Chicago.
The event began with a panel discussion on “What’s the Deal with Private Equity?” by panelists Nobel Laureate Myron Scholes, an economist and Chairman, Platinum Grove Asset Management, L.P., Stephen A. Ross, the inaugural Prize recipient in 2006 and a Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Luigi Zingales, Professor at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and moderated by Milton Harris, Chicago Board of Trade Professor of Finance and Economics at the Chicago Graduate School of Business. The panel discussion was followed by a reception, dinner, and keynote address by the prize recipient at the award ceremony. The annual CME Group/MSRI Prize will be awarded to an individual or a group, to recognize originality and innovation in the use of mathematical, statistical or computational methods for the study of the behavior of markets, and more broadly of economics. | |
