You are warmly invited to the Mathematical Institutes Open House reception at the 2011 Joint Mathematics meetings.  A short presentation will take place on the mathematics of information and feature invited speakers.  In addition, representatives of the sponsoring institutes will be on hand to tell you about some of their exciting upcoming plans for their mathematics programs.  Come and check out the opportunities for you to participate in research activities at these 16 institutes located throughout North America.

This Open House reception precedes the AMS Josiah Willard Gibbs Lecture by George Papanicolaou at 8:30 p.m.

The speakers for a program during the Open House about the mathematics of information are:

Robert M. Bell, Statistics Research Department at AT&T Labs-Research, will give a talk on "Can We Connect the Dots and Protect Privacy?"

Sastry Pantula, Director, NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences

Fred Roberts, Director of DIMACS, will speak on "Mathematical Challenges for Sustainability."
