About the Honey-doos
The Honey-doos inspire and entertain with a sweet dose of tenderness and humor. Their finely-honed take on classic jazz repertoire as well as original compositions accentuates the musicianship of the group’s award-winning founding members, jazz vocalist Halley Elwell and classical guitarist David Trevors.
About Halley Elwell
Halley Elwell is a songwriter and vocalist originally from Hallowell, Maine. She graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz and African American Studies, where she had the great privilege of studying with Dr. Catherine Jensen-Hole and NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan at the Umass-affiliated Jazz in July Summer Music program. While there, she debuted one of her first original songs, 'Nobody Bothers Me', which received accolades from the likes of Jordan, Geri Allen and John Blake. The song went on to win the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers award in 2011. Since moving to San Francisco in late 2007, Elwell has studied privately with the noted recording artist and educator Kitty Margolis and attended Madeline Eastman's Voiceshop (both are founders of indie jazz label Mad-Kat Records).
About David Trevors
David Trevors has been performing for audiences since the age of 13. Born in San Francisco, California, David began playing guitar at the age of 11, taking lessons at the local community center. A couple of years later he was already performing at local talent shows in bands with friends. Starting out on a “Gibson SG” given to him by his grandfather, he formed his own Rock group in high school. After graduation he decided to pursue music fulltime studying Jazz and Classical guitar. He eventually enrolled at Califonia State University, Northridge. During this time he received numerous scholarships and awards for high-caliber musical and academic acheivements, earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Classical Guitar Performance. Still driven to further his education, he was accepted to an elite school for Classical Guitarists, in Koblenz, Germany. During this time David practiced and taught an enormous amount and received for his effort a very top mark. His concerts throughout the United States, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and Latvia have been of high critical acclaim. David currently resides in San Francisco where he maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule.
