Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Creating Pathways (2025) portrays Black mathematicians who have become leaders in education and research over the last 50 years, overcoming prejudice and segregation. Concentrating on mathematicians who attended predominantly White institutions, we follow their quests for beauty and meaning in math. As these scholars become mentors and role models for the next generation searching for ways to shape new kinds of mathematics, the film introduces several programs aimed at increasing the number of African Americans in the STEM fields.
This is the second of two films in the Journeys of Black Mathematicians series, preceded by Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Forging Resilience (2024), available for digital and DVD viewing. This film can be viewed as a standalone story, for those who have yet to see the first film. More information: http://www.jbmfilm.com.
