Pentimenti - Lynn Glaser
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lynn Glaser’s early training in abstraction was in music and dance. She studied piano from childhood and earned keyboard and music history degrees at university. As an adult, Glaser returned to Berkeley to study painting.
“Like many, I was immediately drawn to figurative work as the most interesting subject but soon left that behind for my love of the outdoors and nature. My paintings are concerned with a feeling of the openness of large spaces whether in nature or one’s imagination. I hope the viewer also senses a passage of time, by the pace at which one looks at a work and the excavation of paint layers in the work itself.”
Over the years, Glaser has experimented with three dimensional painting in the form of freestanding wooden obelisks, as well as with wood panels on which one can ‘excavate’ by sanding through layers of paint. Recently, she has returned to stretched and un-stretched linen as well. (lynnglaser.com)
Free and open to the public. Outdoor reception on 2nd floor balcony. Registration is not required for this event.
UC Berkeley's Hill Shuttle operates on campus from Evans Hall / Mining Circle to the Space Science Laboratory twice per hour. Non-UC Berkeley or SLMath ID holders can ride for $1/trip, payable via cash only. The final shuttle of the evening departs SLMath / Space Sciences Lab at 7:15 PM. (View shuttle schedule) This shuttle drops off at the top of the SLMath driveway and riders will need to walk down the inclined driveway to reach the building.
A limited number of accessible parking spaces are available first-come, first-served at the SLMath building entrance. Paid parking is available in the neighboring Space Science Laboratory lots via the campus PayByPhone system (app or phone-based payments).
