Until further notice, the MSRI building will only be open to a small group of essential staff and members of the Fall 2020 scientific programs. All scientific activities in this program will be available online so that those who can't attend in person are able to participate. If you are not a member of the program and would like to participate in any of the online activities, please fill out this REGISTRATION FORM. ONLINE SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES Five Minute Talks Introductory Workshop RAS Research Seminar Mondays 9:00-11:00 am Pacific Time, beginning September 14th Organizers: Alessandra Iozzi and Nicholas Miller RAS Program Associate Seminar (Graduate Students) Tuesdays 10:30-12:00 Pacific Time, beginning September 15th To participate, please email Tommaso Cremaschi or James Farre. RAS Postdoc Semimar Thursdays 9:00-10:30 am Pacific Time, beginning September 17th Organizers: Tommaso Cremaschi, Soumya Sankar, Yvon Verberne PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The use of dynamical invariants has long been a staple of geometry and topology, from rigidity theorems, to classification theorems, to the general study of lattices and of the mapping class group. More recently, random structures in topology and notions of probabilistic geometric convergence have played a critical role in testing the robustness of conjectures in the arithmetic setting. The program will focus on invariants in topology, geometry, and the dynamics of group actions linked to random constructions. More Information
