Abstract/Media

After a short introduction into the scattering theory
for electromagnetic time harmonic plane waves by an inhomogeneous
medium with (possibly anisotropic) dielectricity I will adress the
question under which assumptions the corresponding far field operator
is injective. This leads to an unusual non self adjoint eigenvalue
problem. I will show how to prove discreteness of the spectrum and
existence of real eigenvalues.
