White noise approximation for propagation and imaging in random media December 01, 2010
Parent Program: --
Location: SLMath: Eisenbud Auditorium
Speaker(s) Knut Solna
Description Abstract: We will analyze the transmitted and also (incoherent)  waves
reflected by a random medium in the case in which the medium has
three-dimensional rapid random fluctuations.   We will show how  the
second-order statistics of wave can be  determined by a white noise
approximation in the paraxial regime. We will also  discuss how such a
description  may be relevant in some imaging problems.
