Abstract/Media

The talk will be very light because the problems mentioned in the title (ranging over 50 to 110 years old problems) are very hard. Fortunately they are all recently solved. And the key tool is the use of probability methods even though there is absolutely no probability in the setting of the problems. We will see how the key probabilistic idea (a certain random geometric construction) allows us to win over the main difficulties: a total lack of regularity of the setting.
