We define G-bundles for any connected reductive group and explain why GL_n-bundles are the same as vector bundles. Other examples are SL_n and Sp_{2n}. We explain Tannakian formalism, define the local and global versions of the affine Grassmannian for G, and sketch how to prove that it is an ind-projective ind-scheme of ind-finite type.
