The purpose of the talk is to show that the critical exponent of a representation in the Hitchin component has a rigid upper bound. The method applies also to different situations, in particular we will give a new proof of a Theorem of Crampon: If M is a closed strictly convex projective manifold, then the topological entropy of the geodesic flow for the Hilbert metric is bounded above by dim M-1. This is a joint work with Rafael Potrie.
