A finitely supported measure on SL(n, R) naturally defines a random walk. We study whether the Lyapunov exponents of the random walks are continuous functions of the measure. This turns out to be easy in some cases, and quite difficult in others. Even the 2x2 case is not always trivial. I will make the relevant definitions and explain some of the ideas of the proofs. This is joint work with Artur Avila and Marcelo Viana.
