Abstract/Media

In my talk I will discuss recent results of P. Varju and myself regarding the group of isometries of R^d for d>=3, focusing on a uniform spectral gap result that is intimately connected to random walks by isometries on R^d. This new spectral gap result also has applications in the study of self similar measures in 3 or higher dimensions.

A discrete analogue giving new examples of expander graphs will also be discussed.
