Title: The polynomial method with application to arithmetic combinatorics in function fields.

Abstract: We describe a version of the Croot-Lev-Pach polynomial method that had great success last year in arithmetic combinatorics and an application in the function field setting.

4.30pm: Aled Walker

Title: Pair correlations of fractional parts of sequences.

Abstract: It has been known since Vinogradov that, for irrational a, the sequence of fractional parts {ap} is equidistributed in the torus R/Z as p ranges over the primes. In this talk we discuss a stronger equidistribution property, a pair correlation of such fractional parts, which has recently received renewed interest, in particular regarding its relation to additive combinatorics.
