Let B be the standard cross-polytope in R^n, namely the set B = {x: |x_1|+...+|x_n| < 1}. In 1988 Meyer and Pajor found extremal (in terms of (n-1)-dimensional volume) intersections of B with (n-1)-dimensional hyperplanes passing through the origin. We shall describe a simple probabilistic proof of this result (joint work with A. Eskenazis and T. Tkocz).
