We will discuss the KKM theorem and a few generalization of it due to Sperner, Shapley, and Peleg, and the application of these theorems to piercing problems of d-interval hypergraphs and their duals. No previous knowledge will be assumed. The talk is partly based on joint works with R. Aharoni and T. Kaiser (2016) and with R. Aharoni and R. Holzman (2017).
