A classical flatness theorem of Khinchine states that an n-dimensional convex lattice point free body is flat in some direction, i.e., its lattice width is bounded by a constant depending only on n. In this talk, we will discuss a functional analytic approach to bounding the flatness constant which leads to the best currently known estimate.
