Fiber polytopes are a way to give a polytopal structure to many sets of objects in geometric combinatorics, including triangulations of point sets, monotone paths, and zonotopal tilings. In this talk I will define and give some examples of fiber polytopes, and sketch the history of the related "generalized Baues conjecture".
