If we have a sheaf of commutative ring spectra on $X$ and we have an action of $G$ on $X$ in a compatible way, then we have a natural action on the sheaf. In particular, there is a natural action of $G$ on the global sections. In this talk, I’ll describe how keeping track of the equivariance (in a derived sense) gives us a suite of tools that can both make computations easier and can explain some otherwise puzzling features.
