Abstract/Media

We've seen how to construct a candidate for the Morava E-theory associated to a formal group G_0, as the orientation classifier for a spectral universal deformation formal group of G_0. As constructed, this object has a straightforward universal property: it's the initial complex periodic commutative ring spectrum whose classical Quillen formal group is equipped with the structure of a deformation of G_0. This week, we'll show that this object is actually E-theory by computing its homotopy groups. Time permitting, we may discuss further applications.
