In this talk I will explain a result obtained with Blanc-Toen-Vezzosi, providing a comparison of categories of matrix factorisations with sheaves of vanishing cycles in the setting of motivic homotopy theory. I will then explain how this theorem fits as a realization of a Morel-Voevodsky type homotopy theory of exponential motives.
