Abstract/Media

Magnetic monopoles are solutions to solutions to a gauge-theoretic equation in R^3, the moduli spaces of which form a family of complete hyperKahler manifolds. I will discuss a current project with Karsten Fritzsch and Michael Singer to compactify these moduli spaces as manifolds with corners with quasi fibered boundary (QFB) metrics. The project is a case study in organizing a multi-scale geometric gluing construction using the machinery of manifolds with corners.
