Abstract: For linearized gravity-capillary waves in two dimensions, it is possible that two periodic waves with different wavenumbers travel at the same speed. If the ratio of their wave numbers is irrational, the motion of the superposition of the two waves is spatially quasi-periodic. I will present a numerical study of the spatially quasi-periodic gravity-capillary waves in deep water and introduce a conformal mapping formulation of the wave equations. In particular, I will show examples of both small amplitude waves and large amplitude overturning waves. This is a joint work with Jon Wilkening.
