And why should I care? Higgs bundles are connected to (surprisingly?) many areas of mathematics: Gauge Theory, Mirror Symmetry, Hyperkähler Geometry, Higher Teichmüller Theory, Cluster Varieties, .... This is a non-technical talk about the geometric structures of the moduli space of Higgs bundles and how it is possible that they connect to so many disciplines.
