As a generalization of Neron—Tate height pairings on divisors of degree 0 on curves over number fields,in the 1980s, Beilinson—Bloch independently proposed pairings on homologically trivial cycles on smooth projective varieties over number fields. Their constructions are subject to their conjecture on the existence of excellent extensions of cycles to integral models. In this talk, I will explain their conjecture's old and new results with applications to Diophantine geometry.
