Improved Low Regularity Theory For Gravity-Capillary Waves

Abstract/Media

In this talk we consider the Cauchy problem for the gravity-capillary water waves system in general dimensions. Previous work by Alazard-Burq-Zuily and de Poyferre-Nguyen have established well-posedness for this system in Sobolev spaces. These works combine dispersive Strichartz estimates with the energy method to establish well-posedness below the classical energy threshold. However, due to the low regularity setting, the Strichartz estimates used exhibit derivative losses. In this talk we will discuss how some refinements to the microlocal analysis yield improvements to the estimates and low regularity theory.
