Valuations and applications

Abstract/Media

Zoom Link

Valuation is a classical invariant that has been used extensively in number theory, commutative algebra/algebraic geometry, and noncommutative algebra/noncommutative algebraic geometry. For example, Artin uses valuations to distinguish different families of skew fields of transcendence degree two. In this talk we present valuation methods for automorphism,

isomorphism, and embedding problems.
