DG Tricks in Local Algebra I
This series of talks will cover some results that show how the singularity of a local ring is reflected in its homological algebra, especially results that can be proven by playing with dg algebras and modules. We will at least talk about: The homological behaviour of complete intersection rings (and the homological misbehaviour of non-complete intersection rings), the homotopy Lie algebra, cohomological support varieties, and the cotangent complex. Prerequisites are negotiable, and we will make an effort to keep the talks accessible.
The first talk will survey what is to come, give some motivating problems, introduce a few basics, and cover some prototypical arguments making use of the homotopy Lie algebra (which will be properly defined later).
