Free Resolutions, Linkage, and Representation Theory
In the first talk, we open with a number of examples intended to illustrate the overall ideas of the series. Then we discuss the history of universal free resolutions (in particular, why "universality" is too much to ask for) and give an informal example to demonstrate how a Lie algebra might appear in this study.
