The second talk will be an introduction to dg algebras and modules and how to use them. The fundamental example is the Koszul complex, and we will discuss a few applications of these (such as the Buchsbaum-Eisenbud-Horrocks conjecture on free resolutions). We will also explain how dg algebras can be used to characterise and illuminate various classes of rings (regular, complete intersection, Gorenstein, Golod...), and then move onto dg algebra resolutions, which will play a central role in what follows.
