A classification of subalgebras of the one-sided Witt algebra
We give a classification of Lie subalgebras of the one-sided Witt algebra (the Lie algebra of vector fields on the affine line). As applications of the classification, we prove that universal enveloping algebras of these infinite-dimensional subalgebras are not noetherian, and one case of a conjecture of Kaiming Zhao with links to the Jacobian conjecture.
