I will discuss phase transition in the construction of the phi^3 scalar field in 2D established with Kihoon Seong and Nikolay Barashkov. This measure corresponds to the the highest polynomial power that is not sign-definite ("defocusing") for which the measure can be constructed given an L^2 cutoff. We identify the exact value of the optimal cutoff, and show that at that cutoff, the measure cannot be constructed, in contrast to the corrsponding case in 1D.
