The attention of the wave turbulence community has been largely focused on derivations of these effective equations from dynamics of a system of weakly interacting waves governed by nonlinear dispersive equations, but the analysis of the wave kinetic equations has only begun recently. We will introduce and motivate the wave kinetic equation and present a recent result on the global well-posedness and long time behavior of the inhomogeneous 6-wave kinetic equation. This is joint work with N. Pavlović and M. Tasković.
