We introduce the pressure metric for Anosov representations. We

explain the mechanism behind its incompleteness, which is essentially

geometric. This mechanism can be observed both for the Hitchin component

and for quasi-Fuchsian space. In the latter case, the pressure metric

diameter is finite. Time permitting, we introduce some alternative metrics

which may be better behaved. Most of this is based on joint work with

Pierre-Louis Blayac, Theo Marty, Andrea Monti, and joint work with Elia

Fioravanti, Frieder Jaeckel and Yongquan Zhang.
