Singular support and Whittaker averaging in geometric Langlands

I will survey some techniques for controlling the singular support of sheaves, and how to use them to characterize the kernel of Whittaker averaging. This is related to temperedness in global geometric Langlands. It can also be applied to study Gaitsgory's central sheaves in the affine Hecke category.
