AMS-IMS-SIAM Summer School in Commutative Algebra: Local Cohomology and Its Applications June 20, 2005 - June 30, 2005
Parent Program: --
Location: Snowbird, Utah
Organizers Anurag Singh and Uli Walther
Description Topics
The topic of the summer school will be commutative algebra, with special emphasis on topics that are related to local cohomology and its interactions with other areas of mathematics such as algebraic geometry, topology, and D-modules. Some part of the workshop will be devoted to algorithmic questions and explicit computations.

Lecture notes for the first part will be developed by the speakers and they will be distributed before the start of the summer school.

Program
We will have 7 days of lectures, followed by a conference during the last 3 days. During the lecture period, there will be 3 to 4 one hour classes per day, supplemented by problem sessions, computer demos, and discussions. These lectures, demos and sessions will be delivered by Graham Leuschke, Anton Leykin, Srikanth Iyengar,Claudia Miller, Ezra Miller and the organizers.

The speakers for the conference that makes the second part of the Summer School are expected to be Markus Brodmann, Ragnar-Olaf Buchweitz, Marc Chardin, David Eisenbud, Phillippe Gimenez,
John Greenlees, Melvin Hochster, Joe Lipman, Gennady Lyubeznik,
Paul Roberts, Rodney Sharp, Karen Smith, Ngo Viet Trung, Keiichi Watanabe, Santiago Zarzuela.

There will be one day of rest, June 25. We will have an excursion that day. For more information on the conference consult the webpage Local cohomology. To view the AMS announcement for this program, go to the AMS web page.
