I will talk about joint work with Calmès--Dotto--Harpaz--Hebestreit--Land--Moi--Nardin--Steimle on the Grothendieck-Witt (aka hermitian K-theory) spectrum of a stable infinity category and algebraic surgery. I will explain how this can be used to solve the longstanding open problem of computing the Grothendieck-Witt groups of the integers.
