Cohen-Macaulayness Of Absolute Integral Closures

Abstract/Media

A deep theorem of Hochster-Huneke in F-singularity theory is that the absolute integral closure of an excellent noetherian local domain R over F_p is Cohen-Macaulay. In other words, all relations on a system of parameters in R become trivial after passing to a finite cover of R. In this talk, I'll discuss the analog of this result in mixed characteristic, as well as some consequences.
