Fellowship Of The Ring: Deformation Of Klt Singularities

Abstract/Media

In algebraic geometry of characteristic 0, klt singularities, a class of singularities defined in terms of resolution of singularities, play an important role.  In this talk, we consider the behavior of klt singularities under deformations.

It has been shown by Singh that, unfortunately, klt singularities are generally not invariant under deformation. To overcome this failure, we consider the condition "valuatively klt", which is slightly weaker than klt.

In the first half of the talk, we outline some notions and known results on deformation of singularities.  In the second half, we recall the defintion of valuatively klt singularities and show that this class is invariant under deformations.

I will also discuss some applications and some related results.  This talk is based on joint work with Shunsuke Takagi.
