Fano varieties with coniveau discrepancy and torsion in H^3
Benoist and Ottem have recently defined and studied two filtrations on the integral cohomology groups of a complex variety, called the strong and weak coniveau filtrations. These agree after tensoring with Q, but can differ in general. We will describe the first examples of Fano varieties where these filtrations can be shown to differ, which also happen to be the first examples of Fano varieties with torsion in H^3(X,Z). This is mostly commutative algebraic geometry, but derived categories and semiorthogonal decompositions show up in a supporting role. It is joint work with John Christian Ottem.
