Betti numbers, rank conjectures, and differential modules
I'll discuss a set of related conjectures from commutative algebra, algebraic geometry and topology that all have to do with lower bounds on Betti numbers. I'll introduce differential modules as a natural generalization of chain complexes and investigate their betti numbers, with an eye towards what this generalization can tell us about the original conjectures.
