Topics and presentations This workshop is to be held at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown located at 200 West 12th Street, Kansas City, Missouri, directly preceding the Annual Meeting of SACNAS. This is the sixth of a series of workshops sponsored by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute on contemporary research in mathematics, this time focusing on Analysis of Singular Spaces (Fall), Ergodic Theory and Additive Combinatorics (Fall), and Algebraic Geometry (Spring). All presentations will be expository, intended for mathematical scientists and students not necessarily working in these areas, but interested in learning about new developments and the possibility of spending some time at MSRI. Discussions about MSRI programs will include special lectures, targeting a broad audience of mathematical scientists including undergraduate and graduate students as well as different ways to be involved in the upcoming programs. Connection between MSRI and SACNAS This workshop will directly precede the annual meeting of the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science. SACNAS members are strongly encouraged to take part in this workshop; and conversely, we anticipate that many workshop participants will remain for the annual meeting. Funding Funding is available for mathematics students at all stages of their career starting with undergraduates up to and including those with Ph.D's, for travel and housing for the workshop. There is also funding for those who wish to attend the rest of the SACNAS conference. Please use the comment section in the registration page (link is near the bottom of this page) to indicate whether you want to attend the SACNAS conference. We are working in conjunction with SACNAS on funding participants. MSRI will make funding decisions for travel, housing, and registration, and will notify both you and SACNAS of our decision. Should you be selected for funding, we will make your travel and hotel arrangements and notify SACNAS in order to prevent duplication of effort. When you register on-line at this web site, please click the "Funding Support Needed" option on the first page. Fill in your contact information, the section on why you would like to attend the SACNAS conference, and information about your academic background. We will notify you shortly thereafter. Because we use this application process for all of MSRI's workshops, there is a section urging you to consider giving a talk. Please ignore this box. For information on the SACNAS meeting go to www.sacnas.org. Workshop speakers
