Abstract/Media

Stein and Bourgain famously proved L^p bounds for the continuous spherical maximal function.  Magyar-Stein-Wainger considered the natural discrete variant, but the sharp l^p(Z^n) bounds are different for this operator.  Motivated by an ergodic version of the Waring-Goldbach problem, we prove l^p(Z^n) bounds for a discrete spherical maximal function along the primes. This is joint work with B. Cook, K. Hughes, and A. Kumchev.
