Abstract: We will discuss Brock's theorem on volumes of hyperbolic mapping tori in this PA seminar. Brock's theorem relates the volume of a hyperbolic mapping torus to the Weil-Petersson translation distance of the associated holonomy map.  After a very short introduction, I will introduce the main ingredients and then sketch the proof of the theorem.
