Open TASEP And The Ribosome Flow Model

The time evolution of TASEP (Totally Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process) can be described and analyzed by various dynamical systems. In the first part of the talk we introduce three different types of such dynamical systems in the case of a finite and open chain and discuss relations between them. These are the Chapman-Kolmogorov equations well known from the theory of Markov processes, the Ribosome Flow Model which is some low dimensional approximation much used in systems biology, and a stochastic dynamical system that is obtained via a grand coupling construction from TASEP. The second part of the talk will concentrate on some recent asymptotic results for these dynamical systems in the case of time-periodic hopping rates that were obtained in collaboration with Lars Gruene (Bayreuth) and Michael Margaliot (Tel Aviv).
