In this talk, I am going to review classics of William Thurston's theory (e.g., Thurston maps, combinatorial equivalence, obstructions) and show how this machinery works for the class of critically fixed Thurston maps.

In particular, I am going to talk about the classification of critically fixed Thurston maps in terms of planar graphs, and the dynamics of maps from this family on graphs and curves. Time permitting, I will comment on twisting problem for critically fixed rational maps.

This seminar is for postdocs and PhD students, and we kindly ask faculty not to attend.
