We will set the notation for Khovanov homology appearing in Lipshitz-Sarkar's work and discuss how "resolution configurations" are used to describe the differentials in the complex. In particular, we will look carefully at the "ladybug" resolutions, which will be important in building the moduli spaces of the Khovanov stable homotopy type.
