Diffeomorphisms And Gauge Theory Seminar: Cohomological Invariants In Gauge Theory For Families

I will explain a couple of examples of invariants that appear in families gauge theory and that are formulated as certain cohomology classes. One set of examples is given as characteristic classes of fiber bundles with 4-manifold fiber. Another example emerges from the adjunction inequality. I shall describe a basic idea common to these invariants.
