Abstract/Media

This seminar will take place on campus, in Evans Hall room 736.

Barthelme-Bowden-Mann introduced a proof strategy for leveraging the finiteness of tight contact structures on a 3-manifold to prove finiteness of Reeb Anosov flows on 3-manifolds. Unfortunately, not all Anosov flows are Reeb flows of contact structures. They are, however, Reeb flows of more general structures called stable Hamiltonian structures. I will talk about a broken dream to extend their arguments to the stable Hamiltonian setting.
