Singular 3-Manifolds And Homeomorphisms Associated With Expanding Thurston Maps

We will discuss a fairly general method for upgrading Markov endomorphisms to homeomorphisms in one higher dimension. Applied to expanding Thurston maps, it produces singular 3-manifolds with self-homeomorphisms which are 3-dimensional versions of pseudo-Anosov maps. This is joint work with Daniel Meyer.
